"The final presentation of work was fabulous-rapturous response from pupils, staff and parents. The cheers could apparently be heard half way down the road. Thank you for providing us with such an uplifting experience."
Teresa Newnham Teacher Downs Park School Brighton
"I thought they were a bunch of people who came over to take our jobs but I realise now that they are people trying to make their lives better."
Year 10 Student Downs Park School Brighton
We are producing residencies in schools in Kent Sussex and Surrey, on the theme of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, using music and performance arts, delivered by professional music and performing arts facilitators and supported by the expertise of Migrant Helpline, a NGO specialising in this field. The project aims to share facts about the current and recent historical situation in the UK, tackle some of the myths and stereotypes, present the human side of the story, identify similarities and celebrate differences, celebrate the positive contribution to UK society and allow participants to consider their own cultural background and that of their community.
