Music in Detention
A three year national project running until 2010 to enhance the quality of life for immigration detainees, establish independent music making in Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs) and inform the wider community about the experience of the detainees. The project is run by the newly established Music in Detention charity, and Music for Change is one of the key delivery organisations. We have delivered work in IRCs across the UK including Dover, Haslar (Gosport), Yarls Wood (Bucks) and Dungavel (Scotland).
Between July 2007 and March 2008 we are focusing on delivery in Dover IRC. This also includes work in schools in the town and with the local community. This will culminate in a free public event on Saturday 22nd March at Dover Library. Please e-mail douglas@musicforchange.org for further details
Funding is from a variety of sources including the Baring Foundation, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and The Arts Council
