New Chief Executive
Music for Change is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Johnson-Brown as its new Chief Executive from August 2007.
Mark brings significant experience from the not for profit music and arts venue, touring and development sectors. In expressing his delight at accepting the role, Mark said ‘We now aim to enhance and broaden the impact of our work by establishing Music for Change as the leader in promoting cultural understanding through participation in music across the UK.’
Mark replaces Kerry Kalokoh who leaves to take up a new post in her home town of Lancaster. Kerry has been a key member of the MfC team since 1999 and was appointed CEO in 2006. The staff and board of trustees at Music for Change wish Kerry all the best in her exciting new role and sincerely thank her for her significant contribution to the success of Music for Change.
Mark Johnson-Brown - A Short Biography
Mark is a committed and experienced arts professional. He trained as a fine artist before touring the world as a musician.
Mark set up the Nottinghamshire based Bandwagon charity, a music recording and rehearsal complex with promotions and educational programmes. He moved on to co-manage the Roadmender Arts Centre, in Northampton during the Brit Pop years.
Mark then went on to be Programme Manager for the Blackheath Halls, a major London venue before being appointed to deliver the construction and launch of the Mick Jagger Centre. an arts centre and educational facility.
In 2002 Mark launched hooba:culture, an arts consultancy specialising in touring, festivals and development projects for a wide range of clients.
Mark’s passion for the arts continues to grow, as does his belief in the power of the arts to enhance lives and develop mutual understanding between people of all cultures.
